
William Guptail
Senior Vice President of Value-Based Solutions
William "Bill" Guptail is the Senior Vice President of Value-Based Solutions at Aetion. Prior to Aetion, he most recently served as Chief Operations Officer for Genoa Healthcare (acquired by Optum Rx in 2018). In this role William oversaw all operations, including a field organization of over 2,800 employees. During his tenure with the company, Genoa doubled its footprint in pharmacies across the U.S., achieving revenue growth from $900M to over $3.2B annually. William joined Genoa in March 2016 as Senior Vice President, Payer Relations, and was responsible for the development and execution of payer and reimbursement strategy, including the design and implementation of value-based pharmacy programs. He developed and maintained key health plan, pharmacy benefits manager, and government payer relationships, striving to improve access to Genoa’s integrated pharmacy care model designed specifically for individuals with behavioral health and other complex chronic illnesses.
Prior to joining Genoa Healthcare, William was President – West Region, Complex Care Management for OptumCare. During his 14-year tenure at UnitedHealthcare and Optum, he served in a variety of leadership positions, including national roles in clinical operations, and product leadership. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer and Plan President of UnitedHealthcare Community and State in Hawaii from 2009–2013. William also held previous leadership positions at Healthnexis and Novartis.
William has a bachelor’s in Human Resources Management and music minor from Millikin University, and an MBA from St. Thomas University.
William lives in Chanhassen, Minnesota, with his wife Jennifer, daughters Julia and Hailey, and dogs Molly and Phoebe.
